Asian Scientist Junior

Asian Scientist Junior is a six-part children’s book series that dives into the lives of extraordinary scientists who have made significant contributions to the science and technology space. Through these stories of courage and conviction, the books hope to inspire all children, wherever they grow up, to dream of a better tomorrow.

The series is published by Wildtype Books after a month-long Kickstarter campaign which raised more than S$15,000. It was officially launched in a special storytelling session with guest of honor, Mr. Heng Swee Keat, Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore. With support from the City Developments Limited, the books were donated to primary schools and libraries across Singapore.

Gene Genius: An evening with Sir Richard Roberts

Discussions on genes and genetically modified organisms (GMOs) can be complex and divisive. In partnership with the 1880 members club, Wildtype Media Group invited Nobel Laureate Sir Richard J. Roberts FRS to share his views on GMOs, science communication and open access publishing.

At the event, 250 attendees were treated to sliders provided by Impossible Foods. These were later revealed to be made with 100% plant-based meat. Up till that moment, most attendees were not aware that the patties were made of wheat protein, coconut oil, potato and heme. Head over to our Facebook album to take a look at what took place that evening.
